Marlena Drozdowska - Polish singer
Marlena Drozdowska (née Wisniewska) is a Polish singer born on July 15, 1958 in Gizycko. She graduated from the Singing Department of the Secondary Music School in Warsaw. She began her musical career in 1973 at the Polish Song Festival in Cracow. She worked with Group I, with which she won the award of the Minister of Culture and Art at the XII Festival of Polish Song in Opole in 1974. She then performed in the cabaret "Pod Egidą" and from 1976 to 1980 was a member of the East German vocal ensemble Gerd Michaelis Chor.
From 1985 she toured with her own band, Hotline, mainly in discotheques in western Europe. After returning to Poland in 1985, she released her first solo album in collaboration with composer Andrzej Korzyński. Her song "Bajadera plaza" became a hit for Summer with Radio in 1986.
In 1991, she recorded a cassette with actor Marek Kondrat, which was meant to be a parody of sidewalk-street hits. However, the song "Soap Fa," with lyrics by Andrzej Korzyński, became very popular with disco polo followers and became a big hit. She also collaborated with composer Janusz Piatkowski, who was close to her musical aspirations.
