After World War II, the development of means of communication made the native song increasingly popular. In the second half of the sixties, bigbit appeared in Polish popular music - a current of big beat youth music, taken over from Anglo-Saxon countries, which was often an expression of rebellion and nonconformism; in parallel, a current of poetic song crystallized. Most of the inspiration came to us from the West, and song festivals played an important role in the dissemination of Polish popular music. Now a new wave of popular music performers has arrived, not shying away from rock or soul rhythms. However, the most significant change from previous decades is not the type of music performed, but mainly its commercialization. However, this phenomenon cannot be generalized, because we still have many great performers who may go down in the history of Polish and world popular music.
