Classical/serious music is a type of music that, unlike popular music, is created for artistic purposes. Epochs in classical music are divided similarly to those in literature and art, but specialists also include their own more detailed divisions. All in all, what distinguishes classical music in a special way is that it includes genres intended for listening, besides, classical music must be performed with instruments that sound natural and are driven by the power of the human body, without the help of any electronic device....… Read more
However, there are exceptions, such as the organ, which, thanks to some improvements, is easier to use, but the condition still remains that they must not in any way alter or violate the original sound of the instrument. Classical music must be original in content, but, for example, works of the 19th century in particular were inspired by folk music (waltzes, polonaises, mazurkas). Classical/serious music includes the following genres:
Sonata
Unlike the cantata, a purely musical piece. A sonata is performed solo on a single instrument or by an ensemble of instruments, such as a chamber orchestra or string quartet.
Prelude
It is an introduction to a larger musical work. At first it was just an introduction, often improvised, but over time it took the form of an independent musical genre. Its creator was Frederic Chopin, author of a cycle of 24 piano preludes, Op. 28 (he composed a total of 26 preludes). This tradition was taken up by many composers. In Russia - primarily Sergei Rachmaninoff and Aleksandr Scriabin). For orchestral music, it is composed as an introduction to an opera.
Symphony
It is a piece written for orchestra, usually consists of three or four movements (the first fast in the form of a sonata, the second slow in the form of a variation or song, the third dance very fast, a minuet or scherzo and the last fast rondo). It changed its shape in different eras, and in the 20th century it has already completely lost its importance, although it is still created but often the classical formal patterns are now abandoned, creating works of free and sometimes even experimental construction.
Fugue
This is one of the most artful and demanding pieces. Due to the strictness of the rules governing its writing, it is often compared to one of the most artful literary forms, the sonnet.
Concerto
This is a work in which, by contrast, there is a combined performance by an orchestra, soloists, an ensemble or group of soloists, or just the soloists themselves. The concerto in its most common form has a three-movement structure and is intended for a solo instrument accompanied by an orchestra.
Opera
This is a vocal and instrumental work in which the music is the background to the libretto. The essence of this musical genre is a synthesis of the arts, that is, a combination of words, music, visual arts, movement, gesture and acting.
Classical music
Classical music is a term that causes some negative feelings in modern listeners. By definition, it is not supposed to be entertainment music, but after all, there is a group of people for whom it is the best entertainment. Nowadays, more and more people, including children and young people are beginning to appreciate this genre and become interested in it. This is greatly influenced by various campaigns that are carried out in schools and other educational institutions. It is at these that it is said that classical music is not so scary and it is worth having an adventure with it. Cultural knowledge lessons in high schools have also played their role. It is worth noting that classical music is a model for many other types, contemporary popular music. It could not be otherwise, after all, it came first. Increasingly, classical works are also being presented in modern form or contemporary pieces arranged for instruments typically associated with classical music. Examples include Vanessa Mae's interpretations of classic songs or covers of Metallica songs performed by the heavy metal string quartet from Finland, Apocalyptica. Many people are unaware of all that classical, or classical music, has done for the modern singing and instrumental arts.
