What was listened to in the world in the 1990s? It's hard to list everything in a brief description of the decade, as of today we have several hundred songs in the 90s music category. These include hit songs by such performers as: Bryan Adams, Genesis, Dr. Alban, Bloodhound Gang, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, Sting, U2, AC/DC the king of pop Michael Jackson or extremely popular in our country band HIM.
The 1990s was also the decade in which stars who had suspended their musical activities in the 1980s returned to the stage, such as the Euro disco music legend band Modern Talking.
In Poland, the 1990s was the reign of Disco Polo music, which is a symbol of this period in our country. Disco polo, on the one hand, faced harsh criticism from supporters of other music genres, who accused it of a primitive melodic line, naïve lyrics, low level of performance and lack of originality. However, this did not discourage the recipients of this music, who bought cassettes with disco polo stars in large numbers. Television and numerous programs devoted to this music also contributed to its popularization. However, regardless of whether someone was a fan of disco polo music or not, surely everyone was familiar with such representatives of this note as the bands Boys, Akcent, Voyager, Shazza, Toledo, Fantatic, Amadeo, Top One, Milano or Toples.
Polish music in the 90s was not only the aforementioned disco polo, these years also saw a boom in music television in our country, MTV and VIVA popularized not only foreign hits but also our native productions. After all, we all remember the great hits of such performers as: De Mono, Varius Manx, Beata Kozidrak, Budka Suflera, Andrzej Piaseczny, Urszula or Universe.
This is also the time of electronic music and techno, which began to take its first steps on the Polish market and systematically began to displace disco polo from the clubs. Worth mentioning here are such legends of this music as 2 Unlimited, Scooter, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Paul Van Dyk, Westbam or music festivals like Members Of Mayday.
The musical 1990s was also a period of further development of bands and performers who started their careers in the previous decade, i.e. in the 1980s.
