There are two versions of the hit song "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." The international album featured the standard and original recording, while the one released in the US featured an extended version of the song. Music critics agree that the song has a very catchy rhythm and perfectly captures the vocal abilities of the Backstreet Boys. The song was written and produced by Max Martin and Danniz Pop, and undoubtedly remains one of the most popular in the group's artistic output. The hit song debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for as long as 22 weeks. In the United States alone, as many as 2.1 million copies of the single were sold.
The music video for the song "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" was directed by Joseph Kahn. The video was shot in Los Angeles on June 16-18, 1997. Kahn admitted in an interview that when he started working on the video, he did not know who the Backstreet Boys band was and was shocked by the sales results in Europe that came to him. After time, however, he concluded that working on the video broadened his view of pop culture and gave him the opportunity to create something new in the US music scene.
