Music video description
"Cradle of Love" is a rock song that was written by Billy Idol and David Warner for the artist's fourth studio album "Charmed Life" in 1990. It was the first single from the album, which also became one of Idol's biggest hits. The song ranked No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, and was also the musician's first hit on the "Mainstream Rock Tracks" chart.
The music video for "Cradle of Love" was directed by David Fincher. The clip depicts Billy Idol singing on large paint frames, which are spread throughout the apartment. The director decided to shoot Billy Idol from the waist up, as the singer was unable to walk due to injuries sustained after a motorcycle accident in February 1990. The video also features Betsy Lynn George in the role of a teenage girl who tries to seduce a modest and gentle businessman, played by Joshua Townshend-Zellner. The video was hugely popular and appeared very often on MTV. It was nominated for an award at the "MTV Video Music Awards" in 1990 in the "Best Male Video" and "Best Special Effects" categories, and won the award in the "Best Video from a Movie" category.
