Music video description
"Achy Breaky Heart" is a song written in 1990 by Don Von Tress, which was originally published under the title "Don't Tell My Heart" by The Marcy Brothers. A year later, Billy Ray Cyrus recorded his version and included it on his debut album Some Gave All (1992). The song is Cyrus' first single. The song became a triple platinum single in Australia, as well as the best-selling single of 1992. In the US, it was a crossover hit at pop and country radio, also placing at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 list and No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs list.
Thanks to the song's music video, the so-called line dance became popular. It is a group choreographed dance that involves a repetitive sequence of steps by a group of people standing in a line or even several in rows. They face each other or face the same direction and perform synchronized dance movements at the same time. It is also important that in this dance there is no physical contact with the other dancers.
While some consider it one of the worst songs of all time, it's important to appreciate that Cyrus brought country music back into vogue at a time when the genre was dying out and had no appeal among younger listeners.
