Music video description
This song is impossible not to know. For many years it has been a permanent part of the playlists of many parties. Here, however, we have a case where the number is known more for its cover version - here performed by Status Quo. The first original version of this piece dates back to 1982, with the song composed by the duo Bolland & Bolland. From the very beginning, the piece was almost doomed to success. It stayed at the top of the Norwegian singles chart for six weeks. In the Status Quo - You're In The Army Now 1986 version, the hit climbed to the top of many charts across Europe
Despite the passage of years, the song has not aged. What's more, it was taken up again after 2000, and its potential was used for a good cause. In September 2010, Status Quo released a new version of the track with the Corps of Army Choir. The number was released by Universal / UMC as a unique, special version of the recording. The lyrics were slightly modified especially for the occasion, in order to refer to the pre-war era. The new version of the song and proceeds from the sale of the single and other sales of the recording were donated to charity, specifically to the "British Forces Foundation" and "Help for Heroes" charities. The song in its new version was used in a musical based on the film "An Officer and Gentleman." Only the title and chorus were changed here to "In the Navy Now" to fit the storyline.
