Music video description

We present you with another patriotic song on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining independence, this time a piece by Jozef Pilsudski's commanded 1st Brigade of the Polish Legions. The origins of this song, also known as "Legions is a soldier's note," date back to when Poland was still under partition, the second decade of the 20th century. The melody for this song is the tune of the Kielce March No. 10 (it was in the songbook of the Kielce Fire Brigade orchestra under No. 10). Historians are not quite sure about this, but most likely the author of the music was Andrzej Brzuchal-Sikorski, who was the Kapellmeister of the Orchestra of the Kielce Fire Brigade from 1905. Later, after the formation of Jozef Pilsudski's First Brigade of the Polish Legions, he became its Kapellmeister and is recorded as the first performer of this song. Initially it was difficult to determine the specific author of the words to this song, with some saying that they were written spontaneously in the military trenches or quarters others that the words were written in 1917 on trains that carried interned legionnaires to the camp and also in the camp itself. In the late 1930s, these doubts were resolved by the Military Historical Institute, which concluded that the author of the first three stanzas was Colonel and literary scholar Andrzej Halacinski. Initially, in the 1920s, he did not admit this, but in later years he backed off and presented evidence that he was the author. The next six stanzas were written by Legion officer Tadeusz Biernacki. Like Warszawianka the song of the First Brigade was taken into consideration when looking for a song to become the national anthem. When it was discussed in 1926, there was even a desire to combine the Dabrowski Mazurka with a song about the Legions and make it the national anthem. In the end, however, this did not happen. I would like to invite you to a beautiful patriotic song performed by the Dana Choir from 1933 We, the First Brigade (Legions).
