Music video description
Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti is the real name of the French singer and actress whom we still remember today as Dalida. She was born in 1933 in Egypt, while her parents were from Italy. At the age of 21 she won the Miss Egypt beauty pageant and then embarked on a great musical career and made a permanent mark on musical history. It is worth mentioning here that in total her albums and singles have sold more than 170 million copies. This number is impressive, all the more so because it was non-English language music. Today I would like to introduce you to one of the most famous hits of this beautiful singer and at the same time probably one of the most recognizable French songs in the world. We are, of course, talking about the song Paroles.... Paroles... from 1973. Dalida recorded this song together with her longtime friend Alain Delon, a French actor and businessman. In this song, Alain promises her "caramels, bonbons et chocolat" meaning "caramels, sweets and chocolate." He also says that "que tu es belle," meaning how beautiful she is. This one, however, responds to him with "paroles, paroles..." which can be translated as idle words, thrown to the wind. This is a song about the fact that you can say a lot, but the words are worth nothing. The hit became a big hit all over the world, not only in Europe but also in countries such as Japan and Mexico. It is worth mentioning by the way that the duo never performed together live on TV, Dalida performed alone and Alain's voice was played from a playback. Many thanks to Przemek for reminding us of this wonderful hit. I invite you to watch the music video Dalida - Paroles.... Paroles... (feat. Alain Delon).
