David Robert Jones commonly known as David Bowie is a very famous English singer, songwriter and also actor. In fact, to say "very famous" in his case is like saying nothing at all. among many people, he is a true icon of music, a creator who had a huge impact on music in the 20th century. His innovative and unprecedented approach to music in the 70s and 80s permanently inscribed his name on the pages of musical history. In addition, the icing on the cake is the number of records sold by this artist, a number exceeding 140 million puts him at the top of the list of artists with the most records sold. In today's post, I have prepared for you one of the most important, best-known songs by this artist, "Let's Dance." This song was released in 1983 and was the first single promoting the album of the same name. As already mentioned, the song was one of the singer's biggest hits and one of the two songs, along with the 1975 song "Fame," that reached the very top of the iconic "Billboard Hot 100" chart. In Europe, too, the song "Let's Dance" went to the top in Germany, Ireland and the Scandinavian countries, among others. As for the music video itself, it uses a shortened version of the original single was recorded in March 1983 in Australia. At the beginning we can see a pair of students dancing in a small pub in the Carinda Hotel. They are watched by the rest of the guests, who supposedly didn't know who David Bowie himself is and what the whole plot is about. Hence, their behavior is quite natural. The leitmotif of the song that can be heard in the song is red shoes, they can also be seen several times in the video. This is a reference to Christian Andersen's fairy tale titled "Red Shoes". The author himself, i.e. David Bowie, said that the song was meant to fight racism and promote the integration of different cultures. I invite you to listen and watch the music video David Bowie - Let's Dance.
