Music video description
"Groove Is In The Heart" is a track from American dance band Deee-Lite. It was released in August 1990 as the lead single from the group's debut album "World Clique." The song was internationally popular, and was even listed at the top of the charts in many countries (such as Australia). The song was originally written back in the late 1980s. It features many samples in its background, and the main riff comes from Herbie Hancock's "Bring Down the Birds." "Get Up" by Vernon Burch, meanwhile, provides the drum track. The song features guest vocals from Parliament-Funkadelic bassist and Bootsy Collins, while Q-Tip is responsible for the rap.
The music video for "Groove Is In The Heart" has a psychedelic vibe. Deee-Lite's outfits are from the late 1960s, and a cartoon background with various changing shapes and colors is superimposed on the other characters appearing in the clip. Quotes from the band appear at the beginning and end of the video.
