Music video description
"Hungry Like The Wolf" is a single by British band Duran Duran, released in 1982. The band won the prestigious Grammy Award for Best Short From Music Video for its music video. Russell Mulcahy is responsible for its direction, and the image was shot in Sri Lanka. The song premiered in the United States on December 3, 1982. It was created under the care of the EMI label in London in just one Saturday. The idea for the song probably came from experimenting with new technologies. It combined a Roland TR-808 automatic machine with a sequencer and synthesizer. In turn, the lyrics of the song "Hungry Like The Wolf" are inspired by the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood.
The members of the band Duran Duran really wanted the music video for their hit song to be shot in the jungle. The director offered them the aforementioned Sri Lanka. The label spent as much as $200,000 to travel to this exotic country. In the clip you can see not only the jungle, but also rivers, elephants, cafes, locales, markets and other elements of the landscape, which somewhat evoke the atmosphere of the cult film "The Searchers for the Lost Ark."
