Eddy Grant - Gimme Hope Joanna is a song by Eddy Grant, which is known as the 1988 anti-apartheid reggae anthem (written during the apartheid era in South Africa). The broadcast of this song was banned by the South African government. The single reached No. 7 in the UK Singles Chart, becoming Grant's first Top 10 hit in more than five years. Eddy Grant performed the song at the Indian Premier League T-20 Closing Ceremony as a criticism of the May 25, 2009 tournament.
