"Mr. Blue Sky" is a song from the seventh studio album by Electric Light Orchestra, also known as ELO, titled "Out of the Blue" in 1977. Its author and producer is the band's frontman Jeff Lynn. The song was ranked #6 on the UK Singles Chart and #35 on the Billboard Charts in the US. Due to the fact that the song often appears in TV shows and movies, it has been called iconic and the most important in the band's career.
In an interview, Jeff Lynn said that he wrote the song "Mr. Blue Sky" when he locked himself in a Swiss cottage and tried to create a follow-up to "A New World Record." The man recalls that it was dark and foggy for two whole weeks, and when the sun suddenly set, inspiration flowed into him.
