Music video description
Genesis is an English rock band whose origins date back to 1967. Initially, their work was kept in the folk style, however, quickly, as early as 79, they switched to the so-called progressive year. And it was after this genre change that they began to achieve their first successes. Today, however, I have prepared for you something from a later period of their work, moving to 1986, the year in which the band released a great album entitled "Invisible Touch." The third song on this album and both the third single promoting this album was the song "Land of Confusion," and it is this song that I would like to introduce you to in this post. The song was very interesting and catchy on its own, but most of us remember this hit thanks to the music video. It was played very often on MTV, received many nominations for various awards and managed to win several of them. In the video you can see marionettes or puppets, which caricatured members of the band, among others. It all started when one of the main members of the band Phil Collins saw a caricature of himself on the English TV show "Spitting Image". He liked it so much that he persuaded the show's producers to make caricatures of the rest of the band members so that they could all be used in the video. In addition to them, you can also see a caricature of Ronald Reagan lying in bed with his wife and a chimpanzee, who go to bed at 4:30 p.m. after which Ronald starts having nightmares. In the video there are many references and allusions to the world of politics and show business of the 1980s. And do you recognize any more famous figures there?
