Music video description
"Zanim Pójdę" is a song from the repertoire of the band Happysad, which was released on March 8, 2004 as a single from the group's debut album titled "Wszystko jedno". The author of the lyrics to the song and its co-composer is Jakub Kawalec, while Lukasz Ceglinski, Maciej Sosnowski and Artur Telka are also responsible for the composition.
The history of the song "Zanim Pójdę" dates back to 2001, when Kuba Kawalec (the band's vocalist and guitarist), while returning from work, hummed to himself the ideas for melodies and words that appeared in his head, which he then arranged into song sketches. The man could not have expected at the time that his guitar would then play one of Polish rock music's biggest hits for the first time. In the spring of 2002, Happysad recorded its first demo, which was intended for distribution mainly within the circle of friends. Among the five songs on it was "Before I Go". The version from the demo was titled "Love" and was not drastically different from the one that was eventually included on the album. The intro was different - the song began with the sounds of drums, which after a few moments were joined by a bass part. This was abandoned in the final version in favor of a guitar solo by Ceglinski. The song
"Before I Go" became a huge hit in 2004, with the song topping the Third Program charts for 33 weeks, an impressive result. In 2013, Gazeta Wyborcza announced a poll for the best Polish songs of the 21st century, and the hit song "Zanim Pójdę" took the honorable third place.
The video for "Zanim Pójdę" is inspired by teledyskiem zespołu Metallica for the song "The Memory Remains." The team's idea was to put the protagonist in a revolving room to symbolize the creation of clutter in his life, which he strenuously tries to sort out. However, the budget was a limitation, so in the end Kawalec played the role of a lost letter carrier who wanders around Warsaw's Sadyba district.
