"Aria on the G string", is a piece written by Johann Sebastian Bach and adapted for the violin by August Wilhelmj. The piece was written under the patronage of Prince Leopold von Anhalt between 1717 and 1723. The aria for G string was the first Bach piece to be recorded, and it was done in 1902 by two Russian artists cellist Aleksandr Verzhbilovich and an unknown pianist.
