"Torn" is a song written by Scott Cutler, Anne Preven and Phil Thornalley in 1993. The song was originally recorded in Danish by singer Lis Sorensen, and two years later by Preven's alternative rock band Ednaswap. By far the most popular, however, was Natalie Imbruglia's version. The song was included on the artist's debut album titled "Left of the Middle" and was recorded in Kilburn, London.
The hit song "Torn," recorded by the Australian singer in 1997, topped the charts in Finland, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Spain and, most notably, the Billboard Hot 100. Natalie Imbruglia was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, but ultimately lost the statuette to the hit "My Heart Will Go One" from the repertoire of Celine Dion.
