Music video description
In 1992 Peter Gabriel released a single entitled "Digging In The Dirt," it was the first single from the artist's sixth studio album "Us." The song may not have topped the charts, but it is definitely notable for the music video that was shot for the song. The video won a Grammy Award in the "Best Music Video" category of 1992. Like the artist's previous music video Sledgehammer this one was created using the "stop motion" technique. In this music video, Peter Gabriel spent several hours a day lying motionless on the ground while backgrounds and props were moved and changed around him.
The video was meant to reflect his life at the time, his divorce and growing communication problems with his elder daughter. A characteristic motif from this video was to bury the singer alive and show him gradually disappearing under the surrounding vegetation.
