Rick James - Super Freak

Few people probably know that MC Hammer used background music from a song by Rick James - Superfreak, an American funky musician - in his big hit "about five pies." After deserting from the navy and hiding in Canada and the UK for 10 years, he decided to become a musician. He recorded dance music, based on funky and disco rhythms; the lyrics of the songs were dominated by eroticism, and social issues of black communities in the US also appeared. As a producer, he worked with Bobby Taylor, Eddie Murphy and The Spinners and The Marvelettes, among others.
