Music video description
"Sleep Walk" is an instrumental piece written and recorded in 1959 by brothers Santo and Johny Farina. In turn, the brothers' uncle, Mike Dee, plays the drums. The song found its way onto the Billboard Top 40 chart, and reached the prestigious No. 1 spot on the chart on August 1. The song was the last instrumental release to reach such a high position in the 1950s.
The story behind the creation of the song "Sleep Walk" is interesting. When Santo and Johny were still children, their father encouraged them to learn to play the guitar and compose their own music. The brothers recorded their ideas on a Webcor tape recorder they received from him as a gift. One night after a concert, they couldn't sleep and decided it was time to write some music. They used the tape recorder, onto which they first recorded the harmony, and then finalized the whole thing by adding the sound of the guitar. At that time there was a very strong conviction in their heads that they had succeeded in doing something special, something that was likely to be spectacularly successful. For a year and a half, they persistently talked to various music publishers, asking for the opportunity to produce the song professionally. Eventually, the brothers signed a contract with Canadian-American Records, which became a springboard to international success.
