Music video description
"To the Moon and Back" is a song by Australian pop duo Savage Garden, which was released on November 4, 1996 as the second single from an album titled "1997." The song became a follow-up to the hit "I Want You" and won the ARIA Music Award in the "Song of the Year" category. The song debuted in the top three of the UK singles chart and in the top 30 of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Despite the fact that it was not as commercially successful as the duo's previous hit, Savage Garden decided to remix it with the cooperation of Columbia Records and re-release it in 1998.
Three different music videos were made for the song "To the Moon and Back." The first accompanied the Australian release of the song and was directed by Catherine Caines and Chris Bantley. The clip was in black and white and depicted the band in a spaceship. Another version of this video with a dance remix was also released. The second video accompanied the release of "To the Moon and Back" in the US and UK, and was directed by Nigel Dick. The third version was shot in New York and depicts the sad story of a teenage girl who travels on the subway and wants to meet her friends - without a doubt, this is the video that is most famous.
