Fly, Robin, Fly is a single by German band Silver Convention from the band's debut album "Save Me, " released in 1975. The song was written by Sylvester Levay and Stephan Prager, who is also responsible for the song's production. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, and the German band thus became the first to rank so high on the American charts. The band also won a Grammy Award in 1976 for best instrumental performance in the R&B genre.
Piosenka zespołu Silver Conversation is based on lyrics that consist of only six words. The refrain features multiple repetitions of the title "fly, Robin, fly" supplemented by the phrase "up to the sky" at the end.
Sylvester Levay wrote the song based on a riff that popped into his head during a morning walk. It was remembered by his colleague, who suggested that it be used during the recording of the group's album Silver Conversation. Initially, the song was to be titled "Run, Rabbit, Run." As the anecdote goes, the small number of words appearing in the text is instead due to the fact that the German group did not speak English and had trouble remembering longer passages of text in that language.
