Music video description
"You Might Think" is a song by The Cars, which comes from the group's fifth studio album titled "Heartbreak City" in 1984. The song's author and lead vocalist is Ric Ocasek, while the producer is Mutt Lange. The hit reached No. 7 on the charts in the US and Canada, while also debuting at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
The video for the song "You Might Think" is one of the first to use computer graphics capabilities. The clip features band leader Ric Ocasek and model Susan Gallaghter, while the plot revolves around their encounters of a somewhat bizarre nature. For example - in one scene the man appears in a mirror hanging in the woman's bathroom, while another time he appears in a periscope that pops up in her bathtub. Of course, the music video also features the other members of The Cars (including a scene in a movie theater).
In 1984, the music video for The Cars' hit song won the first MTV Video Music Awards in the "Video of the Year" category. It was also nominated for five more awards, including best art direction, most experimental music video and best special effects. The video also won as many as four of Billboard's Video Awards.
