Music video description
"It's Raining Men" by American music duo Weather Girls comes from the band's third studio album entitled "Success" and released in 1983. The single was premiered on September 10, 1982, and was written by Paul Jabra, Paul Shaffer and Bob Esty. The song is a mix of post-disco style disco and R&B, as well as soul music with electronic music, in short 70s-style dance music. It topped the charts in the United States for a long time, but also reached other countries. The song was considered one of the best in the 1980s, and it is worth mentioning that the song "It's Raining Men" received a nomination for the prestigious Grammy Award in the category of Best R&B performance by a duo or vocal group.
The video for the song was released in the winter of 1982, with Gary Keys in charge of directing it. It was shot in an abandoned building in New York. Due to the small support of the record label, the video is low-budget. At its beginning, the Weather Girls team is seen at a news station, where they forecast that rain will fall from the sky. The women look out the window and see men falling from the clouds. In subsequent shots, we can see, for example, the dancers of the energetic choreography or the duo's performance accompanied by male extras from the music video.
Of interest, it is also worth mentioning the fact that the duo began their musical career with the band Sylvester and together they recorded, among other things, the well-known hit You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real). And I place the Weather Girls themselves in the category of one-hit stars, since this lineup was their only hit.
