Music video description
Tom Jones is an artist of Welsh descent. He is considered one of the icons of popular music of the 20th century. The greatest heyday of his career was in the musical 1960s-70s, and it was then that many of his hits were created and succeeded. One of the main strengths of this artist's work, is that it is difficult to pigeonhole it by genre. The singer draws fully from a variety of sources. He has always moved freely in a great many currents. From classical pop music, blues music, soulmusic- up to flamenco influences. The latter can be heard very clearly just in the presented song "Delilah". It is worth noting here that the song was originally recorded by PJ Proby in late November 1967. A year later it was already in the repertoire of Tom Jones. The song achieved spectacular success - 1st place on many charts, including in Switzerland and Germany.
Quite a controversy arose over the song's lyrics. It is a story told from the point of view of a killer. A young man sees his girlfriend making love to another in the windows of a house. He confronts her in the morning and kills her. He awaits the arrival of the police, who are expected to arrest him. The entire text, is a storm of conflicting emotions that the murderer feels at the time of killing his unfaithful partner. Listen for yourself!
