This band creates rock music in general and their musical style can be described as southern rock and so-called heartland rock. The former is a term for American rock music , which was born in the southern part of the United States. Thus, their music is similar to the work of such famous names as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger. These styles slowly began to fade in the 1990s however Tom Petty and his band still made music in these moods until his death in 2017, when the band officially ceased to function.
