Music video description
The hit "Dance Hall Days" is a song by the British band Wang Chung, which was released as a single in 1982, when the group was still called Huang Chung. The song was re-recorded and released two years later and was included on the studio album "Points on the Curve." It was the band's only release to hit the charts in the UK. In the United States, the song was also a commercial success, reaching No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the "Dance Club Songs" chart.
The song "Dance Hall Days" was promoted through two different music videos. The first was directed by Derek Jarman, and the clip is a collection of archival footage from World War II combined with colorful scenes shot at home. The band is dressed as characters from the film "The Wizard of Oz." The second version of the video for "Dance Hall Days" is much more famous. The clip is kept in a fantasy atmosphere, and is set in the 1940s. The video earned a nomination for an award at the 1984 MTV Music Awards, but ultimately lost the song to the hit "Sweet Dreams" by the band Eurythmics.
