A new album by legendary American musician Moby will be released on May 28.
Moby is an American musician, singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist as well as a well-known DJ and music producer. In addition to music, he is also involved in photography. His music is hard to pigeonhole, it is broadly defined electronic music and club music and his new album is a reinterpretation of his greatest hits. Together with the Budapest Art Orchestra, Moby has prepared new arrangements of his greatest hits in versions for acoustic instruments and orchestra. He was also assisted on the new album by other well-known artists such as Alice Skye, Amythyst Kiah, Apollo Jane, Darlingside, Gregory Porter, Jim James, Kris Kristofferson, Luna Li, Mark Lanegan, Mindy Jones, Nataly Dawn, Skylar Grey and Vikingur Ólafsson.
The new album, "Reprise," will include Moby's biggest hits, and will hear such songs as "Go," "Natural Blues" and "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?". However, it won't be a typical album of the "the greatest hits" kind, it will be completely new interpretations of known and loved hits of the artist, often using the potential offered by the participation of an orchestra. Why did Moby decide to include an orchestra in the recording? In his own words:
I miss the simplicity and sensitivity that can be achieved in acoustic or classical music.
The artist has made available the first track from this release, a song "Porcelain " with a guest appearance by Jim James. It is a small taste of what we can expect from the artist's new project.
This is not the end of the news that Moby has prepared for us in 2021. On the same day as the new album "Reprise" there will also be a documentary film "MOBY DOC". It will be available in US theaters and on streaming platforms. It will be a surreal biographical documentary with narration by Moby in which we will learn more about the tumultuous details of his life. The film shows interviews with David Lynch and David Bowie and interesting concert footage of the artist.
